Little Anne, Little Anne
Little Anne, Little Anne
She just up and killed a man
Little Anne, Little Anne
Can she do it? Yes she can!
Little Anne, Little Anne
Pieces in the frying pan
Little Anne, Little Anne
Motherfucker’s name was Dan
Little Anne, Little Anne
Will soon do so again

“These Days”
Most people I overhear seem to believe that “these days” are somehow worse than days past. I am sure you’ve heard others say it too. They apparently believe that society is more desensitized, violent, and nasty today than it has ever been in the past. How someone can come this conclusion after hearing about the Holocaust or The Black Plague is beyond me, but still somehow they do. In fact, it is entirely possible that some of the two or three people reading this may share that opinion, so allow me to pontificate.
Ahem!
The violent, primordially evil nature of man has not changed all that much in the last quarter century, but our ability to communicate with each other is better than ever. So when something newsworthy takes place “these days,” you hear about it almost instantly. It hasn’t always been that way. There was once a time when the occurrence of tragic and/or shocking events often went unnoticed by those living on the other side of the planet, at least until newspapers, radio and government could bring society up to speed with a prepackaged, easy-to-swallow load of horseshit. That, for better and for worse, is not the case today in our age of camera phones, internet, and live news coverage.
So see? The world is not a worse place “these days.” We’re just more aware of how bad the world really is “these days.”
